I was a chef for 15 years and I can truly say with full knowledge of the facts that the Pighouse is one of the best places to eat in the area. I have NEVER tasted anything that wasn't special. The place is beautiful, large fireplace in winter and panoramic terrace in summer. At Lorenzo and Andrea you are truly at home.

Last date with Pierpaolo, after another 40 rather memorable rides.Worthy conclusion: this hotel, absolutely out of the ordinary, in an incredible place and with an excellent view.A somewhat dissimilar welcome, but it was our fault because we arrived an hour late (and thank goodness the mayor accompanied us, otherwise there would have been trouble).We smoked some good cigarettes in the company of the manager in the hall, sipping a large reserve Braulio while his wife finished tidying up, rightly annoyed by our presence.Rooms with minimal-vintage furnishings, period mattresses and bed bases and an atmosphere somewhat reminiscent of Kubrick's Hoverlook Hotel.The corridor is beautiful with exercise equipment in plain sight and routers free falling from the walls.Breakfast not received, but then we had been warned that if we left early we would not find anything.Having gotten up at 9 and left at 10, what could we expect? Moreover, since we were the only guests, to guarantee us a better service they had also canceled a wedding lunch with many receptions and everything that is done in these cases.I can't wait to go back, especially for the chainsaw on the bar counter.

The restaurant is located above the beautiful city of Salsomaggiore Terme and externally resembles a mountain hut, the interior is the classic family trattoria, spacious and clean, excellent service, all friendly and professional, the dishes are the classics of the area, anolini, boiled cured meats, all excellent, fresh and homemade. Must try.

We went for lunch today and when we arrived we were welcomed by a beautiful lit fireplace which warmed up the atmosphere.Andrea and "the maestro" Adriano also welcomed us well.They served us a good Sangria with parmesan cream crostini as an entrée. Then came the bites of fried cake with mixed salami (everything was spectacular but the salami was amazing) fried polenta with gorgonzola.WOW first courses: encore of herbetta and red chard tortelli. Someone had tagliatelle with sausage.Then a roast beef like I've never eaten...tender and tasty.Roasted potatoes as a side dish, cooked to perfection. (finally. I often find them half raw)Baked desserts and mascarpone cream all delicious.Even the coffee was good, which is not to be taken for granted for a restaurant!!!!The service was impeccable.In short, it is certainly worth taking a few turns to land in this paradise for the palate.Congratulations again.
